Day 39: First Shots! (And Day 40 Morning)

Yesterday, we had a trip to the vet with Amanda and Amanda's dad, our "Grandfather." We did really well, both surprising the vet with our size. We didn't even notice the shots going in! Then, we were tired and didn't really want to eat... but were playful again by night time!

We've also both been getting very dark. Especially Bello (in the face). Check us out!

Days 28-32

(28-April to 4-May)

The kittens had many adventures where they got to explore stairs, the downstairs, look at a "magic box" (television) and much more.

As Amanda's back got better - there was some major changes to the living situation for Bello and Luna.

Jon had brought his parents' kitties' scratch post upstairs, which both Bello and Luna love to climb all over. (Bello has some trouble making the jumps, but is definitely getting better and better)

Amanda purchased a real litter box for them. Jon and Amanda decided to go one that our friend, Kendra, used. It has little stairs to get into the litter box (which catch all of the litter before they can walk out of the pan!) and a dome on top to keep the smell inside. However, while the kitties are learning to use this new "toilet," the dome has been taken off so that they can better find the litter. There are also towels on the side so there are multiple entrances into the litter pan. (which also means right now, there is litter sprinkled everywhere...but once we put the dome on, litter should only be on the stairs.)

Upon first introduction to the litter box, Luna was fascinated with the liner. She rolled all around the litter box playing with the liner.... pouncing in and out of the box. Bello was less interested...he was more interested in the food

....which we made an adjustment to as well! We now have a cute mat to protect the carpet which says "Meow" all over it. We also got a second kitty dish so there is always dry food available. Both kitties get wet food in the morning and at night. Amanda bought the big sized cans because they are more economically...and the kitties are eating half a can in the morning and half at night. (Although if we let them, they'd probably eat 4 cans every 15 minutes. Well, maybe not Luna... but Bello is a little porker.)

There is no more cardboard wall, as it was taken down. Now, it's just the litter box, food/water, and bed/towels area. (They do have multiple bed/towel areas all around the room where they can sleep. We also have sleeping bags that they like to crawl all over.

Days 22-27

While Amanda was in bed with back injuries, Jon brought the kitties down to visit her in the bedroom that's on the first floor.

Amanda took some pictures of Bello while he was on her lap/playing on the bed. Look how dark he's getting! Little brown/gray goatee!!

The past few days we've had some good developments:
-bigger litter "pan" (bigger tin top)
-better aiming with the little pan...for the most part
-climbing/playing to the max!
-claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaws everywhere. (We actually really need to trip them...)

We weighed them on the 28th and it was around 14 oz for Bello and 1 lb 6 oz for Luna...fluxuating.

Also on the 28th we "kitty-proofed" the room so that they could have the entire room to play in instead of just that corner. (They are getting big, so we wanted to allow them to have more room to round around and play.) We opened the one side of the room that we had cornered off and now they have the whole room to play and explore... and still can find their litter box and food/water.

We're piggies! We haven't even noticed that we can now roam free around the room!

We have learned up to climb! (Sometimes, we confuse Jon's leg for a scratching post...)

Days 20-21: Dry and Wet Food!

(23/24-April)

So, Amanda was MIA for a week due to a back injury - but is back now and doing fun updates!

On the 20th, we gave the kitties some dry food (crunched up) mixed with water. They did pretty well, but Bello liked it more than Luna. We bottle fed Luna a little bit.

Then, 20th-21st we tried wet food again. They LOVED it. You cannot feed them fast enough! Infact, Bello has proved to be the biggest porker, ever. Everytime you walk in the room, it seems that he's eating.

As of the 20th... weights were:
Bello - 10.6 oz ish
Luna - 1 lb 4 oz ish

We'll use "ish" because it's hard to keep them on scales now.
